Money Smart
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) will provide a day long training to equip trainers from local sites with the skills to deliver the 10 module Money Smart financial education curriculum in their sites.
Help For Faith-based and Community Organizations
CCDO wants to enhance the capacity of faith-based organizations and local communities in developing competitive grant applications. “Navigating the Federal Funding Process,” an interactive training that is part of the ARC (Accessing Resources for Community and Faith-based Organizations) training curriculum, will assist faith-based and community organizations to conduct needs assessments, identify federal and state funding streams, develop competitive federal grant applications, and evaluate their programs. All FBCO grantees and sub-grantees are encouraged to attend this ARC training.

Steering Committee Development and Management
This learning lab will focus on the purpose and role of the steering committee, decision making skills, selecting a site coordinator, selecting a fiscal agent, role of the fiscal agent, running effective meetings and conflict resolution skills.
Sustainability
Weed and Seed funding is intended to be “start-up” funding to help sites develop effective, comprehensive, integrated strategies to reduce crime. Sites need to build sustainability into their operations early on, both in terms of resources and commitment to the long-term strategies being implemented.

Indian Country Site Coordinator Development - Focus Group Process
This session is targeted at gathering information from current site coordinators and other subject matters experts working with or in Weed & Seed sites. The goal is to obtain input to design a training curriculum for use with Weed & Seed sites with Tribal efforts and aimed at increasing the knowledge, skills and abilities of site coordinators and others to manage Weed & Seed initiatives in Indian Country and in diverse native communities.

Learning Labs
Community Engagement Using Resident Leadership
Identify tools and techniques to engage communities and sustain their involvement in Weed and Seed and community improvement efforts, with an emphasis on residents’ participation. It is important to involve residents early in the Weed and Seed planning and provide them with substantial program authority.
Effective Law Enforcement Strategies
Law enforcement and community policing strategies require multi-level coordination and cooperation between jurisdictions and among local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Key principles of design and implementation of effective weeding strategies from experienced sites will be discussed.
